10 Truths & 2 Lies

As you know from my post last week, I’m currently traveling (aka. searching for Middle Earth) and I just couldn’t bring myself to skip a post. I JUST LIKE YOU ALL TOO MUCH!

But this took some brainstorming. Because what should I post about when I’m not around? If it’s too interesting then I’ll miss out on everyone’s responses. If it’s boring, um, then you throw rotten tomatoes at me. Gross. So I thought up something that’s kind of halfway between a guessing game, a blog post, and a giveaway. 😛

I call it . . . [dramatic music] . . . 10 truths and 2 lies! Original, eh? Below, I’ve listed out 12 weird little facts about weird little me. It’s your job to guess which two are lies! (Tweet this)

You may guess ONLY ONCE in the comments. And when I return from my cruise, I’ll reveal the answers in the comments. Winners will get, uh . . . virtual cake? Nah. I don’t like cake. How about this: Winners get an envelope of swag from the Out of Time Series! Yeah, let’s go with that. (Tweet this!)

Okay, are you ready?

About Nadine Brandes

Nadine Brandes is an adventurer, fusing authentic faith with bold imagination. She never received her Hogwarts letter, but rest assured she’s no Muggle (and would have been in Ravenclaw House, thank you very much.) This Harry Potter super-nerd has been known to eat an entire package of Oreos (family size) by herself, and watches Fiddler on the Roof at least once a year. She writes about brave living, finding purpose, and other worlds soaked in imagination. Her dystopian trilogy (The Out of Time Series) challenged her to pursue shalom, which is now her favorite word (followed closely by bumbershoot.) When Nadine’s not taste-testing a new chai or editing fantasy novels, she and her knight-in-shining armor (nickname: “hubby”) are out pursuing adventures.

  18. 7 and 9 are lies, I think!! *is hopeful*
I know you DO NOT have enough enough bookshelves for all your books, you’ve saif on your FB/Instagram. (yes, I stalk)
And I doubt you have NEVER CRIED during a book… I mean, you’ve read so many.. surely at least one of them made you cry! 😛

  19. I guess number 2 and number 7! Hope you’re having an awesome trip 🙂

  20. I’m gonna say that 2 and 7 are lies? I don’t know, honestly. By stalking your instagram, I ruled out a few things, but I’m just wildly guessing here. 😛

  21. sierrafaith327

I’m gonna do 1 and 9! Hope you’re having fun on your cruise!

  22. James Nichols

    I think 7 and 9.

  23. I’m pretty sure that #7 is a lie, but the other one is stumping me a little bit. I’m gonna take a wild guess and say #5.

  24. Polaris Northstar

Seven and Nine are the lies! (…I think… 0_o)

  25. Maybe #1 and #9…

  26. I guess #2 & #7 😁

  27. Hmmm… That’s pretty tough. I’m guessing the two lies are: I’ve never cried while reading a book and I have enough shelves for all my books. Neither of those seem very likely…. ?

  28. Number 7 is definitely a lie – no dedicated book addict has enough shelves. For the other . . . I’m going to guess maybe 11? I’m curious to learn the correct answer. 🙂

  29. Ach! This is such a clever post. And very difficult. I call #7 and #9 as the lies. Notice how almost all of us believe you’ve done these ridiculously daring and awesome things. It’s the shelf space and emotional stoicness that I’m doubting 😉

  30. I agree that 7/9 are lies. Here are mine (did this list a while back).

    1. My absolute favorite Christmas album is A Christmas Together by John Denver and the Muppets. It’s just not Christmas until Miss Piggy sings “5 golden rings” and Animal plays the drums.
    2. My bucket list is short. In fact, it has only one thing on it. Before I die, I’d like to see a blue whale.
    3. Godfrees isn’t my real name. It’s my pen name. My real name is actually an anagram of Godfrees (change the ‘o’ to an ‘i’ and rearrange the letters if you like word puzzles).
    4. I had five different majors in college (7 if you include grad school) and none of them were English, literature, or writing related.
    5. I don’t drink coffee and I detest peanut butter, although frozen Reece’s are yummy.
    6. I worked as a forensic scientist for over a decade.
    7. My father was 53 when I was born, and his father was 51 when he was born, so my paternal grandfather was born in 1868, three years after the end of the Civil War.
    8. I’ve had the opportunity to travel outside the USA. I’ve been to France, Germany, Greece, Turkey, and Mexico, but not Canada.
    9. Of all the states I’ve visited, my favorite is New Mexico, the Land of Enchantment. Give me desert, mountains, and cactus and I’m a happy girl.
    10. I come from a large family. I have two sisters and five brothers, but I’m the baby.
    11. I have an irrational fear of bridges.
    12. I love volunteering in the nursery at my church. There’s nothing better than be surrounded by a bunch of toddlers.

  31. I should know this, right? Ok so…I think, 7/9?

  32. 7 and 9 for sure

  33. I think this is too easy so it’s probably wrong but I’m going with 2 and 5. Great post idea!

  34. 7 AND 9. That’s my guess. Though I’m probably wrong. 🙂

  35. Most likely #7 (one can never have enough bookshelf space) and #9 (you would seriously have to be completely heartless(I know I cried reading your books)

    11. I once hit my head really hard, and have no memory of it.
    12. I’ve never gone rollar skating.

So… Which ones do you think are lies? 😛

  38. I’m going with 7 and 9.
And here are my 10 truths and a 2 lies:

  39. 7/11. That’s my guess. You made it pretty difficult! haha, it was fun though!

  40. Okay, so does your mommy’s guess count? I hope to know you well enough. 😉

    1.) I have driven a motorcycle……Yup!
2.) I don’t drink coffee……LIE, although you seem to enjoy Lattes more.
3.) I’ve been in a hot air balloon. Hmmmmm
4.) I’ve almost been struck by lightning…Yes! Quite a hair raising experience!

    9.) I’ve never cried reading a book…..Ahhh, yup!
    10.)I’ve piloted an airplane. YUP!
11.) trained as a barista in England. YUP!
12.) I bow hunt….Well, I’ve seen you practice, does that count?

Hmmmm. As far as I can make it out, there are at least 3 lies. 😉 I’ll go with #2 and #7.

  41. Hmmmm, let me re-phrase and re-guess on my previous answers. I in fact see a possible 4 lies. I’m changing my answer to the “best of 4 lies” (oxymoron?) #7, #9. 😉

  42. I’m going with #7 and #9! (So if you have actually almost been hit with lightening I want to hear the story. 😉 )
