Guys–I met Veronica Roth! + A Giveaway For Youuuu!

Last week I got to meet Veronica Roth. Yes, that Veronica Roth–the author of Divergent. The woman who helped jumpstart YA fiction.

I read the Divergent books around the same time I was writing my Out of Time Series. We all remember those days–the “age of dystopian books.” Back when dystopian was still the hottest bookish topic since Harry Potter.

Book one–Divergent–was about the main character, Tris, being brave. And at the time, I was figuring out how to be brave with my own writing. How to let it into the world and not crumple into a nervous heap when people started reading it. The Divergent movie also played a huge role in inspiring me when I was writing A Time to Speak (book 2 in the Out of Time Series).

So, all that to say, I was ecstatic when I learned that the Veronica Roth was coming to my tiny little insignificant state in the midwest. I had it on the calendar and had tickets for both me and Mister Ninja within seconds. Then we made the three hour drive (because we’re that committed) and met the queen herself.

When I met her I tried really hard not to freeze up. I got a bit flustered, but managed to say all the things I really wanted to say to her. She was so kind and even stopped signing books to look up and engage with me which was 10+ points of coolness.

It’s times like these when I turn back into a nervous reader and I kind of love it. It’s fun being an author and meeting all the authors when I go to events. But sometimes it’s extra fun just returning to “fangirl status” and getting giddy over simply talking to an author I admire.

Fast forward a bit to the fact I got a bunch of books signed. Yes, of course I got my copies of her books signed because duh. But I had some extras and thought maybe my readers would like to hug a few signed copies of Veronica’s books just as much as I would. 😉 So today I present to you…the most fabulous giveaway ever EVER!
