FAWKES Pre-Order Goodies for the first 100 People!

Fawkes releases in 5 weeks! So it’s time to let you know about our pre-order campaign. This was announced in my newsletter two days ago (so if you want early updates, make sure you’re signed up!) but here are all the details in one place.

The Goodies

My publisher and I partnered with a fantastic young artist, Misha Oplev, for some artwork of different colored masks that correlate to the story of Fawkes. AND THEY ARE SO COOL!

Everyone who pre-orders FAWKES and submits their receipt will receive three random mask cards of different colors after the book’s release. They’re small enough to be bookmarks and big enough to be displayed on your bookshelf to show your bookworm friends how cool you are.

How do you claim this magnificent prize?

It’s quite simple actually. You:

• Pre-order Fawkes from somewhere (like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, the Book Depository, an independent bookstore near you, etc.)
• Take a photo or screenshot of your receipt
• Then fill out the form below

Who’s eligible?

Everyone!! Anyone who has pre-ordered some form of Fawkes, whether it’s the hardcover, the audiobook, or the ebook. This pre-order campaign is international, so feel free to fill out the form no matter where you live!

First 100 people? *panic*

Okay so…the giveaway is limited to the first 100 people who submit their receipts. That’s not many, I know. But we have limited mask cards, so we had to cap it somewhere. If you’ve been waiting to pre-order, NOW IS THE TIME! We might be able to get a bit of wiggle room for the first 150 (because the pre-order entries are filling up pretty fast!), but there’s no guarantee. Go! Fight! Tackle each other to the finish line! (Nicely.)

You may have seen in my recent newsletter that I’m officially diving into YouTube and having a blast. So I made a video about the pre-order campaign for your viewing enjoyment. It’s only about 4 minutes long and gives you some more details about the masks and how the color power works. (Mwahahah) Enjoy!

Why are pre-orders important to an author?

It’s the nature of the author. It feels weird saying, “Buy my book!” in any form. But pre-orders are so important to an author. It tells the bookstores that there’s a demand for Fawkes. Then that prompts those bookstores to put Fawkes on the more noticeable shelves, or for Amazon to start listing it with other similar books.

Basically, pre-orders help spread the word.

Pre-orders are also what help books hit snazzy fancy lists like the New York Times or the USA Today or Publisher’s Weekly list. I’ve only recently been learning about all this and it’s fascinating!

So if you know you want to read Fawkes, please visit your local bookstore or hop online and maybe–just maybe–pre-order it. 😛 Then I will, of course, sneak a home-baked cookie into y our pre-order goodies bag. 😉
