48 HOURS: How to Survive the Launchpocalypse

Can someone just scream “48 HOURS!” in my face please?

Thank you.

This week’s “regular” blog post will be on Friday…THE DAY A TIME TO RISE RELEASES. Which is in 48 hours. FORTY-EIGHT HOURS, PEOPLE!! (Actually, technically less than that. Something like 36? BUT I’M AN AUTHOR I CAN’T DO MATH AND DON’T ASK ME.)

So to make sure you’re READY, I’ve scouted the area and gathered intel so that you don’t miss out on anything. (And so that your brain–if it’s faulty like mine–won’t be punished for forgetting any of this info.) I’ve also made you a handy-dandy guide to surviving the Launchpocalypse. (Tweet this)

But let’s start with the happenin’s:

1. The Thunderclap.

Today and tomorrow are the last possible days to join the Thunderclap (a social media shout-out to help spread the word about the release to unsuspecting bookworms. MWahahaha!) Just click the photo below and donate a tweet, a Facebook post, or a Tumblr post. Simple as that, peeps.

By the way, let me clarify this little mission for you. It’s not just about numbers or me trying to strong-arm you into tweeting for me. Personally I’d much rather be asking, “Would you like a regular Oreo or a double-stuffed?” instead of “Would you be willing to Tweet/Post about my book?” But the Thunderclap is a way for us to spread the word about A Time to Rise and the entire Out of Time Series–the ultimate goal being to reach new readers. Spark their curiosity. Make them think, “Hey, my friend’s-friend’s-neighbor’s-nephew’s-girlfriend likes this book and I keep seeing the cover everywhere so maybe I should check it out.”

That is the goal, and that is why I invite you to join because you will reach people that I never will.

On that note, can I give a huge weepy THANK YOU to all of you who have committed to the Thunderclap? YOU ARE THE BEST!! I frequently tell hubby “My readers are amazing. I think I need to just road trip across the entire world and visit them all.”

Who’s game?

2. The Facebook Party

There is a party happening, people. AND YOU CAN EXPECT OREOS.

  • When? October 18th (Tuesday)
  • Time? 6pm CST
  • Where? Facebook. This linky link. Yeah, this baby’s virtual which means that you don’t even need to get out of bed! Or off the couch! Or out of your reading nook! YOU COULD EVEN READ A BOOK WHILE PARTYING.

Maybe you’re not sure you want to go. Maybe you’re not sure it’ll be fun. Oh my sweet nervous friend. Have you never been to one of my parties before? Have you never been showered in book-shaped confetti and giveaways and fun-facts and bookishness?!

It’s wild madness of booknerd glory. Come to the party. Invite your friends. There will be copious amounts of books given away. (The real ones filled with paper, not just the ebooks. Because EVERYONE WANTS TO WIN THE BOOKS YOU CAN SMELL.) Even if you can just pop in for ten minutes, you might win a book.

WHAT IS STOPPING YOU?! Do you not like presents? Or books? Or food? Or fun?

(Also, if you go join the party now there may or may not be early prize stuff happenin’. Because who says the party needs to wait until actual party time? That is folly.)

3. Goodreads giveaways.

Did you know that there’s a giveaway for each of my books (the paperback kind) going on on Goodreads? I’M NOT LYING. See for yourself:

If you have a Goodreads, you should enter.

If you don’t have a Goodreads, you should make one real fast and enter.

If your friends have a Goodreads, then you should pressure them to enter.

If your unicorn has a Goodreads, then you should enter for it (because typing with hooves? #thestruggleisreal)

4. Order the book.

This isn’t new information, per se, but I realize that some of you may have missed this step. It’s okay! It’s optional! No pressure! But just in case you are wanting the book that all this hype is about…then you can order it (and the other books in the Out of Time Series) here:

Okay, look, I know that 48-hours isn’t a lot of time. In fact, you might be getting slightly panicky like me. You realize that in 48-hours you’ll have a new book in your hands and you’re going to want to read, but the world is still going to happen and you might just freak out.

This is normal.

Because it’s the Launchpocalypse. So to help you stay calm and be prepared, I have put together a Survival Guide to the Launchpocalypse.

Your 5-Step Survival Guide to the LaunchPocalypse

1. Go do all the things

Those events mentioned above aren’t just for your bookworm fun, they are also for your bookworm health. Do them and you will weather the launchpocalypse much better than the average bookworm. Take part in the Thunderclap, join the Facebook party, and enter the giveaways. Don’t ask questions. Just do.

Would I steer you wrong?

2. Tell your friends your plan.

Let them know that you’ll be in survival mode and that they’d be safest not disturbing you for any reason whatsoever, but if they have to then you can be found in your bookworm-survival basement with A Time to Rise.

3. Work-out in preparation for the launchpocalypse.

And by “work out” I mean building up finger strength (for turning pages) and arm strength (for lifting up the book to read, then setting it down again for a sip of tea, then lifting it up again to keep reading…) and eye strength for reading fast and mental strength for slowing down so you don’t miss anything important.

4. Build an emergency kit

Fill this kit with only the essentials and make sure that you can carry it with you should you have to flee the premises because people are interrupting your reading. Emergency kits can vary from bookworm to bookworm, but make sure you have the essentials like tea (or coffee), a mug, bookmarks, pen for marking favorite quotes, reading glasses (even if you don’t need them, they help you feel more bookwormish), yummy candles, piles of back-up books, and cozy items such as bookish pillows, fuzzy blankets, and socks.

5. Make sure all electronics are fully charged

This is mainly for the Facebook party and also for all the updates and squeals you desire on your Goodreads status. Go buy 80 of those rechargeable little portable battery thingies that make traveling practically heaven. CHARGE THEM ALL.

That’s all I have for you. Do you feel better? More prepared? Have you done the things?

Then go get ’em, ninjas.

(Don’t ask me why baby turtles. I just couldn’t stop watching. Or laughing.)

Your Turn:

What part of the Launchpocalypse are you most excited for (or terrified about?)

How do you think we could better prepare for the Launchpocalypse?
