Sometimes I Don’t Want to Blog *hides face*

Sometimes I don’t want to blog.

Usually those “sometimes” come around when I’ve had about 4 hours of sleep, missed a writing deadline, babysat, got depressed about taxes, had 177 emails I haven’t responded to, and then had to stay up until midnight packing for a trip that I kind of forgot I was taking. Oh yes…and then remembered that I was supposed to write a blog post before going to bed.

Not like this happened yesterday recently or anything.

Dear Blog ReaderSo here’s my blog post on the fly. Blogs, to me, are often like writing letters to a friend. So please excuse me if this one’s a little more…letterish than normal. 😉 A friend asked me lately, “Do you ever have a hard time figuring out what to write for you blog posts?” Apparently I give the impression that I have everything together and I’m never stressed and blogging comes easy. *sarcastic laugh* Come be a fly on the wall in my writing room. You’ll learn rather quickly (until I smash you with a used book or something.)

Yes, sometimes I have a hard time blogging. Like today. Sometimes I have a hard time adulting, cooking, writing, hoping, shaloming, cleaning, eating, etc….LIKE ALL OF US DO. And that’s okay. (Right? RIGHT?!) Sometimes I’ve got to be real with y’all (okay, I’m always real with you. But sometimes the “ugly real” comes out.) This is my “tired week.” The week where I worked on weekends (including Sundays! HEATHEN!) and stayed up late when all I wanted to do was read someone else’s fiction and cook like the chefs on Chopped.

“But Nadine,” you say. “It’s only Wednesday. The week’s not even over.”

*dies* You mean there’s more? 😛 Nah, that just means there are three whole days in which to make this “tired week” something amazing.

What’s the point of this blog post? Um, it’s midnight. Was I supposed to have a purpose when writing it?

I guess the point is to show that I’m human. I also want to tell you why I blog:

I blog to connect with people.

That’s my main reason. I love seeing your comments and writing letters to you, my friends and readers. I spend more time agonizing over whether or not you’ll like my next blog post letter or not. Because I want to be interesting, I’m interested in you, and I like friends.

I blog because I like it.

Yes, I’m psycho like that.

Despite this little harrumph post, I actually adore blogging (because of point #1.) I love sharing thoughts that are less than 100,000 word novels. I love being able to just blurp (totally a word) whatever random silliness or brain teaser topic that pops into my head. It’s like I’m having a conversation with friends where I talk too much and make a dork out of myself, but then find out you’re dorky too and we then dance around the room in LOTR cloaks and Harry Potter wands.

Hm…this point kind of turned back into the “to connect with people” point. *shrug*

I can’t think of any further points about why I blog.

Blame it on the fact it’s midnight. Or blame it on the fact that I just truly really want to connect with you.

*bows* Thank you so much for you grace in wasting 3.4 minutes of today by reading this silly nonsense post. Thank you for not burning me at the stake for not having a well thought-out and bullet-pointed blog post. Thank you for being you, for being interested in me, and for letting me be a dork right back at you. 😉

When was your last “tired week” and what helped you overcome it?

What would you like to see me blog about? (This is my attempt to make you come up with the ideas instead of me. 😛 )

  1. You’re so funny!
    Get some sleep!
Oh, and write a blog post about…your pets…do you have any?

  2. *huuugs*

My last tired week? Ha. Ha. Ha. How about this week? And last week? Yeah, the past two weeks have been so hard and overwhelming that I TOTALLY GET THIS. Seriously, I understand! As for what helped me overcome it…well, I don’t know, it’s only Wednesday. 😉 But taking walks helps me cool down a bit. Also, youth group. Youth group is tonight and that helps. 🙂

I hope your week–and mine–turn out really well!

  3. I just took a blog break for like two months! I totally get having a burned out week. 🙂 And you’re brave to be willing to just stick random thoughts out instead of a carefully-crafted post…I’m usually too much of a perfectionist to do that! 😀 I always enjoy your blog Nadine – you’re fun and it shows. 🙂 And all this love for connections and being goofy with other people…are you sure you’re not an extrovert?? 😀

    • Aww thanks Bethany! 😛
Actually, every time I take the Meyers-Briggs test, I’m right smack dab in the middle of Extrovert and Introvert. It’s a happy place for me. 😛 But I certainly recharge like an introvert.

  4. Um, how about since October? 😉 Things have slightly calmed down but it won’t really calm down for a while still.

    Have a safe trip!

  5. Well it is nice to have you posting, even if it is an amusing, real life post like this, we like to know you are still around and dorky 😉

  6. Blogging can be tough. My biggest problem is I plum forget every other week. “Whew, got all my novel writing, editing, socializing, around-the-house-stuff, day-job stuff, and time with family done. …what blog?”

    • Yeah. That’s usually when all my worst blog posts come out because I try to speed write them at midnight. 😛 Ugh! But thankfully that’s only a couple times a year. I think I have a “freak-out-alarm” in my brain that goes off every late Tuesday night…right abut when I’m climbing into bed with a mug of tea and good book ready to relax. 😛

  7. Ah, yes. A tired week. I can completely understand that. *offers recharge cookies*
We love connecting with you, too, but if you need to take a break while you recharge and eat cookies, we’ll all understand. 🙂
Oooh, can we? *makes it a point to find LotR costumes when I visit you at some point in the future*
I’ve had a couple hard weeks this year… Just everything piles up. 😛 I feel for you!

I guess all you can do on those “hard weeks” is just to keep on shaloming, cooking, adulting, hoping, trusting, cleaning, living… etc.
*sends internet hugs* We love you, Nadine!

    • *nom nom nom*
Thank you for t he cookies! 😉 And the encouragement. *hugs* AND YES LET’S DRESS UP IN LOTR GARB AND TROMP AROUND MY MOUNTAINOUS VALLEY! *ahem*

  8. I appreciate your honesty and man I want to be friends with you! We have so much in common ( except the Harry Potter obsession ). I love love love connecting with people. That is the biggest thing b that keeps me blogging. Already had a few tired weeks. Between trying to write and edit and decide what to do with my first MS there was health problems with my daughter and now my mom. Setting smaller goals for myself has helped and so has having a set blog schedule of 3 different weekly features so bin not stressing. I plan to add more later..
I have enjoyed getting to know you. Thanks for being so open!

    • We’re friends Sara Beth! Even without the Harry Potter nerdiness. I’d love to meet you in person at a conference some time in the future! 😀

And I’m praying for energy and perseverance with your writing! <3

  9. You are so witty!! I love your blogs!! I love you!! I can say that….I’m your mom! Hugs!

  10. Aww, I love your blog and I always get excited when you post. Your posts are so helpful!

I love hearing from you!
