What Books Are You Reading in 2015?

It’s that time of year. The time when we re-evaluate everything about ourselves — the socks we wear, the brand of toothpaste we use, whether or not we should organize our bookshelves by author, title, or book cover color. You know what I mean.

It’s…the New Year.

So…now that you’ve overthought your life and have come to no new conclusions, I am going to force you to make a decision. If you’re reading this, you are now bound — by the contract of Blog-Readers’ Honor — to answer this question:

What book are you going to read in 2015?

Yup. I just made it hard for some of you (major book-lovers) and easy for others (non-readers.) You may list only one book. Go with the one you’re most excited about.

I, however, being the author of this blog and supreme ruler of NadineBrandesville…can list as many books as I want. Here are some books I plan on reading in 2015:

books-of-2015

Aren’t they beautiful? (In case you were wondering…I organize my books by height.)

See how there are only twenty-four books here? It’s because I’m leaving room for the random books that fall into my path, for the free e-book that sucks me into an all-night read (curse you, sleep-depriver!), and for the non-fiction books that I like to pick up when I’m feeling a bit dry in my pursuit of God.

I’ve found it incredibly ironic how little I have time to read as an author. And yet, one of the most important ways to better myself as a writer is to read as often as possible. So this year, one of my resolutions is to read more.

With that, welcome to the New Year! Yes, I have resolutions that don’t involve books, toothpaste, or socks. But I’m going to go against the grain and post my resolutions later on in January.

So, in case you forgot what it is you were supposed to tell me…what book are you most looking forward to reading in 2015?

  2. Radical by David Platt

  3. Red Rising by Pierce Brown, that’s the one I’m reading after I finish The Emissary by Thomas Locke. Really looking forward on your comments on Storm Siren, I didn’t like that one, except for the cover :/

    • Interesting. I’ve heard a lot of things about that book. I’ll be sure to post a review. 🙂 Haven’t heard of Red Rising or The Emissary. If you like them, let me know and I’d love to add them to my list!

  4. Oooh! Eli by Bill Myers is one of my all-time favorites! The book I’m most excited about reading is The Young Elites by Marie Lu.

    • I’m so excited. I haven’t read anything by him yet, but I admire his heart and his vision for writing so much! I’m quite excited to get into his book.

I’ve heard a lot about Marie Lu but haven’t read her old series or the new book yet. You’ll have to tell me how it is!

  5. One of many…The Fire in Fiction by Donald Maass

  6. I picked up a few Enclave books just before Christmas which I’m looking forward to going through, but the one I absolutely need to read is A Draw of Kings by Patrick Carr. Currently reading A Hero’s Lot.

  7. You have brought me out of my blog ignoring rut by laying on me the Contract of Blog Reader’s Honor. But I’ll probably slip back into the rut later. 🙂 I am going to read Pirates Latitude by Micheal Chrighton. I hope to read more this year too. Thanks for an enjoyable post as always!

    • Ha! I know how to play mean. 😉
Never heard of Pirates Latitude, now you’ve got my curious. Perhaps that’ll sneak onto my to-read list, too!
My pleasure! And thanks for coming out of your rut to uphold the Blog Reader’s Honor. 😉

  8. Right now I’m really looking forward to Marissa Meyer’s Winter and Mary Weber’s Siren’s Fury. I’m sure I’ll read tons more, but those are on my Must Read list. I hate/love it when author’s hook you into a series. 🙂

I love hearing from you!
